I’m thrilled we are teaming up with the Presbyterians and Baptists again this summer for Vacation Bible School. In addition, Family Methodists are joining in the fun!

We need your help. This Wednesday May 9th the Presbyterians are hosting a VBS decorating party. The decorating extravaganza is from 4:00 to 7:30, and we’ll have pizza if enough folks are able to make it out. There will be a few more decorating evenings, but the work goes much better and is so much more enjoyable when many help. Many hands make light work!

Have a great evening, and I hope to see you at Wyoming Presbyterian Church this Wednesday supporting our 2012 VBS program!

What do steps say about a place? Well, I believe that our church steps reveal how much ministry takes place at Ascension & Holy Trinity. The above picture is not our set of steps off the Worthington Ave. entrance, but our steps aren’t much prettier. As with all things in life, it’s worth it to put our best image of ourselves out front, and I don’t think the reality of our church life is one of crumbling steps, metaphorically anyway.

Ascension & Holy Trinity is on an upswing. We are gaining new members. Newcomers worship with us every Sunday. Our children’s Sunday School is thriving. Our relatively new preschool is growing. New ministries have developed in the last few years and are continuing to develop. Our church family is making a difference in our lives and in the lives of those around us because of our experience of God in this sacred space we call our spiritual home.

Our Episcopal Church Women have been looking for a project to dig into. A few ideas were shared with little accompanying excitement. One of the women asked about the stairs leading to the office, and all of their eyes lit up with excitement and support.

Will you support our ECW’s Steppin’ up project? You’ve already supported if you purchased anything at our rummage sale last weekend. All the proceeds of said rummage sale were directed to this worthwhile project to completely replace our steps. This Sunday you’ll have another opportunity to assist with the Steppin’ Up project.

I’m thankful we have so many wonderful ministries that our steps are crumbling before us, but we owe it to all who come into our spiritual home to have a safe passage into our abode. Please consider Steppin’ up that we may put our best foot forward and help others to see Ascension & Holy Trinity to be the life-giving church it is.

In God’s Grace,

Eric+

I found it rather serendipitous, though, that Kimberly just sent this advertisement to the Wyoming blog. Ascension & Holy Trinity has many wonderful leaders who would be excellent to serve on Wyoming Youth Services Board. I encourage you to talk with one another about this opportunity to serve our youth and for our fine parish to get involved within the life of the community even more than we already are.

Vote for Cathy, Dennis and Sue! Both Theobalds and Sue Mitchell of Christ Church, Glendale are putting their best chocolate recipes forward as contestants in ECSF's Chocolate Fest next Saturday, April 21, 2-4 pm, at Trinity, Newark. This is your chance to turn out and vote for them in the People's Choice contest, to win glory for our deanery, and for the love of God and your neighbor in need. Order tickets - just $10 at www.ECSFsouthernohio.org or call 513-221-0547. You can also do good by bidding in ECSF's online auction with many items fun and practical, from a romantic night at a Granville B & B to lots of great Cincinnati options, from Reds and Playhouse tickets to gift cards for the Bonbonerie, Graeter's, and Aglamesis. Online bidding closes April 19. Go to www.BiddingForGood.com/ECSFsouthernohio All proceeds go into ECSF's grants to community ministries throughout the diocese, including IHN, CAIN, and Valley Interfaith Food and Clothing in our part of the diocese.

Here's an example of the many blessings you make possible by your support of ECSF. This was sent recently by Barbara Tope of Trinity, London:
The small things we do can restore hope. The volunteers at Madison County Food Pantry didn’t know how important a package of frozen liver could be. A lady came in who lost her job several months ago. Her husband has been in poor health for some time. He spent December and January in OSU Hospital, where his wife seldom visited him because she didn’t have the money for gas. He came home at the end of February. The doctor told him to eat foods high in iron. So in addition to the regular food box, this lady received a package of frozen liver, and the hope that her husband won’t have to go back to the hospital.
