The Simple Summer Supper Jazz Concert Series returns for 5th year
Ascension and Holy Trinity will once again celebrate the summer with two Thursday Evening outdoor concerts on our Gathering Space. Come grab a hamburger or hotdog from the big grill and sip some cool water or a soda. Bring a side dish or dessert to share, if you would like. It’s all free and everyone is welcome.
The A&HT Simple Supper Jazz Concert Series began in 2015 as part of our 50th Anniversary Celebration. It is an opportunity for members of the congregation and friends from the local community to gather for fun, food and friendship and to hear some great jazz from some very talented local artists.
This summer we welcome two outstanding groups to the A&HT summer series:
On a Limb has become a favorite staple of our series, returning for their fourth year. It is a jazz trio featuring Andrew Haug (piano), Noah Simionides (bass), and Charlie Schefft (drums). The band takes an improvisational approach to original compositions as well as interpretations of some of their (and our) favorite music. Their debut album “On A Limb” was released earlier this year.
We are very pleased to welcome our own Sarah Folsom, Alto soloist/section leader and Youth Choir Director, to perform in our summer series. Sarah (vocals) and Matthew Umphreys (piano) are the Principal Artists and Artistic Directors of The Queen City Cabaret, a new concert series that celebrates Cincinnati’s musical past, present and future by bringing Cincy-inspired performances of jazz, pop, and theatrical vocal music to the community.
We hope you will be able to join us for this summer fun!
