Ascension and Holy Trinity has a long and established history of following the words of Jesus and taking God’s love into the larger community. We have several well established efforts which include but not limited to the Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN), actively volunteering at the Valley Interfaith Community Resource Center, volunteering at St. Paul’s Community Center for senior adults, Matthew 25 Ministries, providing and serving community dinners at a local Episcopal church, conducting a Thanksgiving basket drive along with several other local churches, and providing tutoring assistance for the Latino Homework Club.
In addition we have provided funds for a range of important community service including VINE, a service to empower women struggling to overcome current economic needs, MARRC, Habitat for Humanity, the American Cancer Society Relay for Life and a local summer reading program for youth.
As part of all this work described above, we have offered several workshops and presentations that are open to all. These activities are an attempt to increase our understanding of the needs that exist in today’s society.
While all the actions listed are important and demonstrate our efforts to provide visible actions of what our faith means to us, we admit to a restlessness and are searching for ways to better integrate our Outreach efforts with all aspects of Ascension and Holy Trinity. We are in an active process of exploring additional ways to integrate in a unified whole our Outreach programs with our Christian Formation ( education ) efforts and worship services. This is a serious commitment on our part and is a process we are undertaking with deliberation and care. Our process is an open one and we invite all those interested to join with us as we explore new and exciting ways to demonstrate our faith to the greater Cincinnati community.
