This Thursday’s Simple Supper will feature the musical talents of “On a Limb”
On a Limb is an instrumental trio based in Cincinnati. The group plays original, improvised, and contemporary music, striving for an interactive and organic sound.
Their individual bios:
Andrew Haug is a pianist and composer from Cincinnati, Ohio. He has been performing and teaching in the area since 2013. A graduate of Lakota East High school, he now attends UC’s College-Conservatory of Music as a jazz studies major. He has a wide variety of influences, musically and non-musically.
Charlie Schefft – Drumset – Born March 2nd, 1996 in Loveland, OH. His father Bruce, also jazz/rock n roll drummer, first exposed Charlie to music and drumming very early on, but it wasn’t until high school that he pursued playing drums due to a history of built up ear infections as a child, which made his ears very sensitive to sound. Meanwhile, he started taking piano lessons at the age of 7 and continued on and off until college, where he now studies Jazz drums/music ed at the University of Cincinnati – CCM
Noah Simionides is a bassist from Canton, Ohio. Noah has a bachelors degree in jazz studies from the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati. He is an active member of the Cincinnati music scene.
Noah has played in many bands of various styles throughout all of Ohio. Noah has spent time playing on the iconic Broadway Street in Nashville, TN in venues including Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge, Honkey Tonk Central and Rippy’s.
He continues to freelance in Cincinnati regularly, and is the full time bassist in Cincinnati based bands On a Limb, Ryan Fine & The Media, The Hot Magnolias, and the new John Von Ohlen Big Band. Schedules for shows and events can be found on these band’s Facebook pages.
Noah has worked and performed with such names as Phil Degreg, Kim Pensyl, Craig Bailey, Jon Von Ohlen, Fareed Hauke, Corey Christiansen, Billy Osborne, Todd Stoll, Rick VanMatr, Byron Stripling, Harry Allen and many more. Noah has also performed with the Alliance Symphony Orchestra, The Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, the Louisville Orchestra, and frequently with the Cincinnati Contemporary Jazz Orchestra.
Noah also has recording experience across many genres. His latest projects have been: Ryan Fine’s debut solo album Alone With Dreamers, Andy Black solo album, Ryan Fine & The Media album to be released in the fall of 16′, and various film and video game tracks for composer Bill Piyatut. He has done extensive recording work for the Clever Crazes for Kids website, and is featured on a number of other recordings.
